Alpha Letter from Bailey Nobrega

Dear Sisters,

I am so excited and honored to be a member of ADPi’s spring Alpha class this year. There are seven girls in our class, and the small size and more laid back environment has really helped us to get to know each other extremely fast. I had no idea what to expect when I first learned I got a bid from ADPi, but I was blown away by how amazing it was! A ton of ADPi members put on a mini bid day for us even though there were only a few girls. It was really fun to take pictures, dance, and start meeting everyone, but we didn’t realize how out of the way everyone went to make us feel welcome until we learned that ADPi at K-State usually does not get to recruit new Alphas outside of formal recruitment. When the new Alphas talked together before one of our first Alpha Sessions, we just went on and on about how crazy it was that they put so much effort into making us feel welcome and at home. I am grateful for all the amazing people I’ve met so far and all the ones I will meet down the road.

I did not participate in fall formal recruitment because of a job conflict, and I never really thought I would join a sorority at K-State because I already had a good group of friends through other organizations and groups I was involved in. Last semester, I started video coordinating for K-State’s lifestyle magazine Manhappenin’, and I met a lot of great people there. Later on in the semester, I also started doing photography assignments for Collegian, which is a newspaper at K-State. I was also able to meet a lot of people through Collegian involvement. Outside of my activities, I came to college with a solid group of friends I made while working at a summer camp in Edgerton, Kansas. I also met my current roommate at summer camp, and she was able to help me make connections with even more people she met at K-State last year (my roommate is a sophomore and I am a freshman). I definitely met a lot of great people at K-State before joining ADPi, but they were all casual friends and I was really lacking solid connections with anyone.

I have only been a part of ADPi for a few weeks, but I have already started building solid friendships with girls in my pledge class, older girls, and other new Alphas. Manhattan has definitely grown on me since I joined ADPi, and my roommate has commented that I’ve seemed happier since bid day. I have loved my time at ADPi so far and I can’t wait to see what happenes in the future!

Loyally,

Bailey
